About me
I began my career as the Yamim Noraim student assistant to our late colleague Jerome Gurland at Temple Sinai in Cranston, Rhode Island, which I now am happy to attend as a guest. Subsequent to that was a student pulpit in Ellenville, NY. While attending the Cincinnati campus for graduate work in Bible and Ancient Near East I led Yamim Noraim services in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania and Olympia Fields, Illinois. For fourteen years my career led me to Taunton, Massachuetts, and then after a hiatus working as a religious school director in southern Rhode Island and chaplain at Star of David nursing home in West Roxbury, Massachusetts, I was the rabbi at Temple Beth Sholom in Hull, Massachusetts for nineteen years until I retired from the pulpit in 2016. In addition, I have been an adjunct professor at different times at Bridgewater State College and Stonehill College in Massachusetts, Community College of Rhode Island for over 25 years, and most recently Roger Williams University for nineteen years, concluding in December of 2023.
